KUWAIT, March 13 (KUNA) — Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior sheikh Fahad Yusuf Suad Al-Sabah chaired the cabinet weekly session on Thursday at Bayan Palace.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Al-Maousherji, the cabinet was briefed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, along with His Highness the crown prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, visits to the Ministry of Defense, and the National Guard, Interior Ministry, as well as the Kuwait Fire Force on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, where His Highness the Amir expressed pride over their efforts in safeguarding the nation, renewing continued support to developing abilities and equipment of those bodies with the highest technologically-advanced apparatuses.
The cabinet also noted His Highness the Amir’s representative; His Highness the Crown Prince’s speech at the extraordinary Arab summit, recently held in Cairo, as he reassured Kuwait’s stance against displacement of Palestinians from their lands, as well as stripping them down from their human rights and the right of their own sovereign state, calling on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to shoulder its responsibility in this regard.
The cabinet then took note of the resignation of Minster of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, appreciating and thanking him for services and efforts.
The cabinet decided to suspend work at all ministries, governmental bodies, and public institutions for three days as an official holiday on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, if it falls on Sunday (March 30), with work resuming on Wednesday April 2.
Should the first day of Eid Al-Fitr falls on Monday (March 31), work will be susupended for five days starting Sunday (March 30), and will resume on Sunday (April 6).
State agencies with a special nature will determine their Eid Al-Fitr holiday, with the public interest to be taken into consideration, noted the cabinet.
Meanwhile Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Noura Al-Fassam presented to the cabinet a draft decree law on financing and liquidity, as the ministers approved it and forwarded it to His Highness the Amir for ratification.
The Cabinet then went on to approve the works of a higher committee formed ad hoc to investigate and resolve citizenship issues, which entails cases of individuals whose citizenships had been revoked in line with relevant laws. (end)
