LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Consumers Energy will be offering bill assistance for seniors as winter comes to a close.
Those over 65 years old will be offered personalized assistance to help them tackle their energy bills.
Seniors may qualify for winter protection, which allows them to pay part of their charges during the winter while being protected from service cutoff.
Those interested in participating in the program can call the Senior Check-in at 888-535-9280 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Consumers will also be reaching out to seniors who may qualify.
“We want our customers to know that we are here for them 24/7, in any season,” said Lauren Snyder, Consumers Energy’s vice president of customer experience in a statement. “And that means we’re here to help them save energy and save money. Whether it’s through our various energy saving programs or through our payment assistance options, we can help our neighbors most in need.”
