New Free Skin And New Wild Mode Are Coming

Marvel Rivals continues to leave its foot on the gas, with a little bit of a playercount dip over time, but still numbers any live game would die for. Now, according to new leaks, it’s adding some upcoming events and modes that players will want to be aware of.

There is a new event about to arrive which begins on March 7 and will run through April 11, as Rivals is constantly running these to increase engagement and dole out rewards. In this case, it’s a brand new skin for unfortunately what is the game’s worst hero right now, but destined to get a lot of buffs in the future, most likely.

That would be Black Widow, and while we don’t know what the event is, it is likely to be Western-themed, given that the free skin in question is “Mrs. Barnes,” a cowboy skin for Widow that is based on a particular comic in which the two were a couple. Those familiar with the characters in the MCU have never seen that happen, and neither were given significant love interests in the movies (though a lot of people sure wanted Bucky and Steve to get together).

Black Widow was also a big part of the last Lunar Lucioball event as one of the three playable characters, and a Lunar skin was sold for her. Now, there’s another one, which is mildly frustrating given that people want to get skins for characters they actually play.

Outside of this leak, another mode is going to be added to the game. I don’t believe this is the event in question, but it’s a crazy idea all the same. It’s called Clone Rumble. The description:

“Dive into the Clone Rumble, a fresh gameplay mode where you and your teammates choose from the same heroes to battle together! Assemble your impossible team and unleash the full potential of each character to claim victory.”

It’s pretty easy to imagine how unhinged that mode would be, with say, a bunch of Hulks eternally gamma buffing each other and transforming, or a team full of healers that are impossible to kill. I guess that’s the point. I do wonder if any comic-based clone suits might make it to the game like say, a certain one for Spider-Man.

Even if you don’t play Widow now, it’s probably worth grabbing that skin in case she suddenly becomes awesome in the future. Or hey, there are some people that actually like her now.
