Two students shot near Pasadena Memorial High School after fight escalates

Two Pasadena Memorial High School students are in the hospital after a shooting during a fight near campus Tuesday afternoon, according to Pasadena ISD officials.

The district said the shooting happened across the street from the school after dismissal around 2:55 p.m. What started as a fight escalated to gunfire, leaving two students injured. One was airlifted to the hospital, while the other was taken by ambulance. Their conditions have not been released.

As a precaution, nearby schools that were still in session went into Secure mode to ensure student and staff safety. The lockdown was lifted once law enforcement determined there was no ongoing threat. All schools were safely dismissed and will remain open.

Pasadena ISD says a campus investigation will determine disciplinary action, emphasizing that student safety is a top priority.

“We will not tolerate behavior that jeopardizes the safety of our students,” the district wrote in a statement.

Crisis counselors will be available at Pasadena Memorial High School, and additional security will be assigned next week to ensure safety on campus.

Pasadena Police Department is investigating what led to the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call 713-477-1221.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
