Jack Reacher isn’t one to suffer any nonsense and neither is the actor who portrays him on the hit TV series.
Alan Ritchson, the star of Amazon Prime Video’s “Reacher,” brought his straightforward style to an interview with GQ and didn’t hold back when asked about Florida politician Matt Gaetz.
“That motherf—-r. We are adversaries,” Ritchson says in the interview. Ritchson was classmates with Gaetz at a school in Niceville, Fla.
“It’s shocking to me that the panhandle of Florida continues to vote for somebody — knowing everything we know about him and the promises that he’s made behind closed doors about pardoning certain criminals — he’s just not a good dude!”
Gaetz, 42, currently doesn’t hold office in Florida. In 2010 he was elected to the Florida Statehouse, then in 2016 he was elected to the U.S. Congress. He served as a U.S. representative until last year, when he resigned after Donald Trump nominated him to be the U.S. attorney general.
However, Gaetz withdrew from consideration just before a the House Ethics Committee released a report that included evidence accusing Gaetz of drug use and of having paid for sex, including with a 17-year-old girl.
Ritchson, 42, says his disdain for Gaetz and other politicians has led him to consider running for office, but it’s doubtful he will.
“There’s part of me that wants to get into politics to outdo somebody like him for good, and there’s part of me that’s like, I’m not duplicitous enough to succeed in politics,” Ritchson says. “There are certain people that do a good job of staying true to who they are, but they’re ineffective. I think Bernie Sanders is a hero. But it’s like, what has he accomplished?”
