NEW YORK — The Celtics are looking to get back in the win column as they take on the Knicks at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Madison Square Garden. But they’ll miss at least one starter in Jrue Holiday, who will sit his second straight game.
Holiday is listed as out on the Celtics injury report with right shoulder impingement. He was originally questionable ahead of the Mavericks loss Thursday before being downgraded to out. This time, he’s listed as out to start as opposed to a questionable designation.
Holiday has dealt with those shoulder issues throughout the season, playing through the lingering injury. With the All-Star break just three games away, the team can also give their guard some time off before the week off.
The C’s are coming off a disappointing loss to a shorthanded Mavericks team on their home court, snapping a four-game win streak. Now, they take on a Knicks team in a crucial game in the East standings. The Knicks at 34-17 are 1.5 games back of the Celtics at 36-16, so Saturday’s game holds extra importance.
But the Celtics have also been significantly better on the road compared to at home. They’re an NBA-best 20-6 on the road while being just 16-10 at TD Garden. The Knicks have been hot of late, winning eight of their last 10 games.
