NLE Choppa Responds to Viral ‘Playgirl’ Photo, Rejects ‘Gay Baiting’ Allegations

NLE Choppa is addressing the persistent rumors surrounding his sexuality, aiming to put an end to claims of “gay baiting.”

The Memphis rapper, who graces Playgirl’s newest cover, is once again facing accusations of either being gay or intentionally courting attention from gay men, stemming from a provocative photo shoot that features a glimpse of his backside. He’s encountered similar claims before, tied to his explicit photos and the 2024 release “Slut Me Out 2,” where he raps, “If I was a bad bitch, I’d wanna fuck me too, hmm/ I’d wanna suck me too, hmm/ I’d wanna slut me too, hmm.” In a fresh clip, he reiterated, as previously stated, that he’s neither gay nor seeking to provoke.

NLE said, “I really don’t care, and I think that’s the problem.” “I think I don’t care so much that it’s like a disconnect. It’s like since I don’t care so much and I know who I am so much, I just feel like narratives get painted because I don’t care so much. So I just wanted to clear the narrative first. Do not say that I’m a gay baiter because I’m comfortable enough to show off the perfection that God has orchestrated over my physical, my mental, my spiritual and even my emotions.”

He continued, “I am not a gay baiter because I post a selfie in the mirror showing off how beautiful I am. I am not a gay baiter if I post a picture showing off how much God has blessed me from below the waist with something that got women going crazy. I am not a gay baiter because in my Playgirl shoot I showed a piece of my ass. I can’t show a piece of my own ass without being called a name? It’s my ass! I am not a gay baiter because I showed my ass to a lady photographer.” Ultimately, he wrapped up with: “I love gay people but I would never want to bait gay people to love me for a certain reason. That’s not what I wanna do.”

NLE Choppa Defends LGBTQ+ Rights at Black Pride

In September, NLE Choppa expressed his support for the LGBTQ+ community at Atlanta’s Black Pride Weekend. As he took the stage, NLE prepared for any potential criticism and shared a thoughtful response.

The rapper voiced, “A lot of muthafuckas will ask me, ‘You a rapper, what you doing at a club like this?’” “Well, I say, ‘Fuck them n-ggas.’” He further stated, “You wanna know why? Every day, man, we wake up and we fight [for] acceptance. Whether it’s our skin color, whether it’s our weight, whether it’s how we look, whether it’s what our sexuality is.” “At the end of the day, I believe in one thing: I feel like everybody is equal, no matter how they drink their water, how they eat their food, how they piss, shit or muthafucking sleep, do you feel me?”

The Memphis star uploaded a video highlight of the event to Instagram, captioning it: “As A ‘Rapper’ We’ve Been Washed To Move Opposite Of Love, As I’ve Grown To An ‘Artist’ I’ve Learned To Appreciate Whoever LOVES Your Art!” “I Pray This Post Makes A Difference And Bring Comfort To People to open There Mind & Heart! We All Fight ACCEPTANCE No Matter Who & And What’s Your Battle. God Is Love, And Love Brings UNITY [fist raised emoji, Pride flag emoji].”

He concluded: “I Am A Heterosexual Male And If You Are That And You Know That Then What’s The Issue, God Bless [prayer hands emoji].”
