Northwestern pulls away from Indiana basketball in defensive collapse

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball added its second commitment in the 2025 class Friday, when Bosnian wing Harun Zrno committed to the Hoosiers over Wisconsin, Creighton and Virginia.
Zrno, a prolific shooter, visited all four schools recently, including a swing through Bloomington for IU’s win against Southern Cal earlier this month.
“He’s 6-7, his body is ready to compete at the highest level,” Stevan Petrovic, Zrno’s adviser, told the IndyStar. “He’s the type of player who can score at any time. He has very good percentages outside the 3-point line. He’s not only a scorer or shooter. He can drive, finish around the basket strong, and he catches alley oops. He’s a good defender. Loves to pass the ball to his teammates.
“He’s just an all-around player.”
Currently playing for BC Slavija, Zrno averages 18.3 points per game, shooting 46.7% from behind the 3-point line. That’s in addition to 4 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He played for two years professionally in Latvia before returning to his native Bosnia this season.
Zrno’s film showcases a player with tight shot mechanics, good feel for space and a quick release. Stretching to 6-7, his high release point should make him difficult to guard at the college level.
He joins Montverde (Florida) Academy forward Trent Sisley, an Indiana native, in IU’s 2025 signing class. Zrno, who will turn 21 this year, will be a freshman in the fall.
Assistant coach Brian Walsh took point recruiting Zrno to IU, though Petrovic emphasized landing the 2025 wing was a group effort.
“Brian was absolutely marvelous and outstanding, not to mention others as well, the whole coaching staff,” Petrovic said. “But the fan base, the atmosphere at the game against USC, facilities, talking to people around the campus, the city, everything clicked together, to be honest with you.
“The history of the program was, I would say, the triggering point for him in the decision.”
