CHICAGO (WGN) — Former Chicago Bull and NBA MVP Derrick Rose is opening a pop-up flower shop for one day only in the Loop Thursday.
According to a post on Rose’s Instagram account, “Rose’s Flower Shop” will be open from 12-4 p.m. at 350 North State Street.
Details have yet to be revealed on the inventory shoppers will be able to peruse.
Rose retired from the NBA before the start of the 2024-25 regular season.
A graduate of Simeon Career Academy on the city’s South Side, he was drafted by the Bulls with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and went on to become the NBA’s youngest-ever Most Valuable Player when he won the award after the 2010-11 season. He was 22 years and six months old at the time.
Rose played seven years in Chicago that were defined by what could have been. After winning the 2010-11 NBA MVP award, he suffered several significant knee and leg injuries that cost him large chunks of playing time and hampered his explosive athletic abilities.
Rose was traded from the Bulls to the New York Knicks on June 22, 2016, in an emotional series of events. After being traded from Chicago, he went on to play ten more seasons with five different teams: the Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
