Will There Be a ‘Severance’ Season 3: Everything We Know

If you’re waiting for another season of Severance, the best advice we have for now is a reference to the poster of Dylan in the Lumon break room: Hang in there! After becoming Apple TV+’s most-watched series (surpassing even Ted Lasso), the sci-fi show created by Dan Erickson seems like the kind of project any streamer would want to turn into a franchise and run for as long as possible. But with only two more episodes left of season 2, there’s still no official word on season 3 (though it does seem very likely).

Here’s what we know about the next chapter of Severance so far.

Has Severance been renewed for a third season?

Not yet, but the writers room is already underway in L.A., Ben Stiller told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published February 5.

“Everything changed a lot after the strike, for everyone, in terms of the way people are looking at budgets and spending,” Stiller told THR. “To Apple’s credit, they stayed on track with what the show was, and they’ve supported it.”

He previously hinted at the show’s future, telling Collider in November 2024 that the series could go on if it continues to be a success.

“You have a responsibility to the audience that you’re going somewhere with it,” he said. “That’s always been a part of it for us, really understanding where it’s heading to, and Apple’s been really supportive of that and been sensitive to what the story is and not saying, ‘Okay, this is something that has to keep going as long as it’s successful.’ It should go as long as the story goes, and that’s something we have an idea of, and we’re working towards as we’re starting up our season 3 work.”

When will Severance season 3 come out?

Given there’s no renewal yet, there’s no confirmed date yet either, nor are plans for production public yet. However, Stiller told THR that he hopes the wait for season 3 isn’t as long as the three-year pause before season 2, which was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Who will be in the cast?

That will depend on how the rest of season 2 shakes out. Currently, the cast includes: Adam Scott (Mark), Britt Lower (Helly/Helena), John Turturro (Irving), Zach Cherry (Dylan), Tramell Tillman (Mr. Milchick), Patricia Arquette (Ms. Cobel), Dichen Lachman (Gemma), Christopher Walken (Burt), Jen Tullock (Devon), and Michael Chernus (Ricken).

New additions to season 2 included Sarah Bock (Ms. Huang) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Mr. Drummond). Time will tell who in the ensemble will make it to next season.

This story will be updated.
