The Tennessee Titans are reportedly adding linebacker Cody Barton, formerly of the Denver Broncos, as help in the middle of the defense.
The Titans have agreed to terms with Barton on a three-year deal worth $21 million per reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Barton has logged 100 or more tackles in each of the last three seasons, albeit with three different teams. He fills an inside linebacker spot for the Titans, joining veteran Kenneth Murray Jr., in the middle of the defense.
Barton, a third-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2019, has started 38 games in the last three seasons for Seattle, Washington and Denver. He logged a career-high 136 tackles in 2022 and continued to build on that year with 121 tackles in 2023 and 106 in 2024. He’s also an impressive option in coverage with five interceptions and 12 pass breakups in the last three seasons.
Barton joins a Titans linebacker room that also features Murray, 2024 rookies Cedric Gray and James Williams and 2025 re-signee Otis Reese IV. Contributors from 2024 such as Jack Gibbens, Luke Gifford and Jerome Baker are all free agents.
