In case you missed it, School Spirits follows Maddie (played by Peyton List), a teen who suddenly finds herself stuck in the afterlife at her high school—without any memory of how she died. She soon joins a support group of other spirits who also met their end at Split River High and are now trapped in the in-between. But plot twist—by the end of Season 1, Maddie discovers she *never actually died.* Instead, her body was taken over by another ghost, Janet.

Paramount+ announced the second season in June 2023, and it finally premiered in February 2025—bringing just as many new questions as it did answers. One of the biggest mysteries? What actually happened to Milo’s character, Wally, the lovable ’80s jock ghost. He finally “sees the light” in Season 2, but did he actually move on, or did he stay behind like Janet?
Nate kept things cryptic when asked about Wally’s fate, telling Us Weekly, “All we can say is, look, Janet was able to leave and she chose to stay, so who knows what could happen. Anything could happen.”
If Wally really is gone, that’s a tough loss—especially considering his growing romance with Maddie in Season 2.
“Me and Peyton got super close in the first season, and I think we both anticipated that our characters’ connections [were] going to get deeper this season,” Milo shared in an interview with Teen Vogue. “A lot of it was unspoken, and it was a trust that we had with each other.”
