Las Vegas, NV – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snow and strong winds to parts of Nevada and eastern California, creating hazardous travel conditions through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday for the Eastern Sierra Slopes, where 4 to 8 inches of snow is expected. Winds could gust up to 50 mph, potentially downing tree branches and power lines.

Further east, Lincoln County is under a Winter Storm Warning until 10 a.m. Friday, with 3 to 6 inches of snow forecast, and higher amounts possible at elevations above 7,000 feet. Strong winds up to 40 mph may make travel difficult, especially along Highway 93 north of Pioche.

The Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon region is expected to see even greater snowfall, with 2 to 6 inches above 5,000 feet, 4 to 10 inches above 7,000 feet, and 8 to 14 inches above 9,000 feet. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph, posing additional risks for motorists and outdoor enthusiasts.

Authorities advise travelers to carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water. Road conditions can be checked by calling 511 in Nevada or 1-800-427-7623 in California. Drivers should prepare for delays and potential road closures as snow continues through Friday morning.
