NBA superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny are denying any wrongdoing in a 2022 car accident, according to an ongoing lawsuit.
According to new documents obtained and reviewed by PEOPLE and the Los Angeles Times, legal counsel for LeBron, 40, and Bronny, 20, said the father and son basketball stars “deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint and further deny that plaintiffs have been damaged in the sum or sums alleged, or any other sum or sums, or at all.”
LeBron and Bronny were accused of being responsible in a car accident on November 13, 2022 by plaintiffs April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen.
The women claimed they had to pay medical and vehicle expenses, and lost income at their jobs because of the alleged crash along Pearblossom Highway in Littlerock, Calif., about an hour north of Los Angeles.

In the initial October 2024 filing, their attorney writes that the two women had paid for “physicians, surgeons and others for examination, treatment and care” and expect to pay future medical expenses related to the crash.
The two women also allege their car was “damaged and depreciated” in the crash, claiming the vehicle was unable to be used afterwards.

The complaint was filed just hours before LeBron and Bronny made NBA history on Oct. 22, 2024 when they became the first father-and-son duo to ever play in a game together. The Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 that night.

LeBron was in great spirits after the game as he reflected on the historic evening. “That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together is something I will never forget. No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment,” he said.
And despite the complaint filed against him and his son that day, LeBron went on to say, “Everything was just great today for me — everything,” after the game.
He added, “From the moment I woke up, I saw my daughter before she went to school, then I went to work and saw my son at work, get to the game, just everything. It was a great moment.”
