Notes
• Jacob Truscott was named a nominee for the 2025 Hockey Humanitarian Award. The two-year captain leads the defensemen in scoring with three goals and nine assists (12 points) and is just five points shy of matching his season best of 17. Truscott also leads the team in blocked shots with 31.
• Michael Hage continues to lead the nation’s freshmen in scoring. In 19 games played, the Montreal Canadiens draft pick has scored 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. He has collected four game-winning goals and already has had a five-point game.
• Another leader in national statistics is sophomore Garrett Schifsky, who leads the country in short-handed goals with three. John Madden holds the NCAA record for short-handed goals in a season with 10 (1995-96) and totaled an NCAA record 23 in his four-year career in Ann Arbor.
• Michigan has found success 3-on-3, going 4-0-1 in overtime games this season. Jackson Hallum has scored two of the Wolverine’s OT game-winners. When it is tight, Michigan has found a way to win, taking six of seven games by one goal.
• Michigan leads 177-142-24 in the all-time series with Michigan State, which dates back to 1925. Last season, MSU won four of six meetings including the Big Ten Championship 5-4 in overtime. A week later, the Wolverines ended the Spartans’ season with a 5-2 decision in the NCAA Regional final in St. Louis that sent Michigan to its third straight Frozen Four.
• U-M and MSU will meet again in three weeks. The Duel in the D at Little Caesars Arena will be Saturday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m., with Michigan serving as the home team. Tickets are still available. The night before, Friday (Feb. 9), the teams face off at Munn Arena at 7 p.m.
